Having more screen real estate makes it easier to work, especially on larger projects. However, it can also mean that you have to choose one wallpaper over another because a larger screen resolution isn’t available. Resizing an image for use as a background really isn’t a good idea. Most operating systems allow you to span a single wallpaper out across multiple monitors, but if not, you can use a manual approach to install them. When you look for multi-monitor wallpapers, simply add the resolutions together and choose a wallpaper size that is fairly close.

Installing the Wallpaper

Windows: Right click on the desktop and go into the personalize panel and Desktop Background. From here, you can select an image. Choose whether you want to tile, fit, fill, or stretch the image. If you are running an older version of Windows, you might want to try using the Control Panel first. Generally, the images will span across the monitors if set up properly.

Mac: Right click on the desktop and click “Change Desktop Background…,” then change the wallpaper to whatever image you have chosen. You may need to use three separate wallpapers to have them display properly, as the Mac OS uses a different method of generating the wallpaper. Most of the sites listed below give you a Mac option.
